The focus of the Recreational Program is to create an environment that allows the players to have fun while learning the fundamentals of soccer.
Focusing on individual technical development in a fun and safe environment.
Schedule
Week 1: 4/20 and 4/24: Basic footwork/ dribbling
Drills: Cone dribbling, zombie penguins, hot lava, rollovers, stopping the ball Games: Red light, green light, Simon says, freeze tag, Rooster Tails, Crab soccer, Sharks and minnowsWeek 2: 4/27 and 5/1: Passing/teamwork
Drills: line passing, triangle passing, relay races Games: Target practice, Star Wars, Keep your yard clean!Week 3: 5/4 and 5/8: Shooting/scoring
Drills: Shooting lines, 3v1s, give-and-go lines, 2v1s Games: Buffalo!, shooting relays, World Cup, KnockoutWeek 4: 5/11 and 5/15: Possession/defense
Drills: Keep away, Crossing the river, introductions to Rondos, Cops and Robbers Games: 1v1s, 2v2s, 3v3, and 4v4 scrimmage progressionWeek 5: 5/18 and 5/22: Revisiting what we've learned in the first 8 sessions
Recap of the kids' favorite drills with more advanced variations, emphasis on opposite foot developmentWeek 6: 5/29: Warmups moving into full-field games E mphasis on having our players learn to spread out, pass to open teammates, and become familiar with the laws of the game (goal kicks, throw-ins, corner kids, etc.) 30 minute games with half timesLast day, we plan to have a cookout!
